Ours is having trouble as well....try to take her outside every 1.5 hours but she still pisses. Shes only crapped a few times since the few weeks weve had her. Just takes patience I guess. Other than that shes been awesome though.

Reese poped and pissed in the house this morning. She spent the morning outside.

We got are dobermans on December 29. They were born November 15th. Here they are at 6wks (december 29th) and the 2nd at 10wks (jan 20th). I don't have a current pic of them. But I will have a few tommorrow. On march 1st, Duke weighed 50lbs an Harleigh weighed 49lbs. Duke is a black male. Harleigh is the red female. I can't believe a female could be this big at 4 months old (march 15th they will be 4 months). Very Very VERY! smart dogs. I love them to death.

I like the brown one.

Reese is getting big! I haven't weighed her in a while though, but she's growing like a weed!

Flyer, boxers are very smart, but they can be a bit stubborn. I have owned boxers all my life. My current one is the first female I have owned and I'm finding she is very different from the males I owned. She was difficult to housebreak also and it took nearly two years for her to finally quit peeing in the house. I would just take her outdoors frequently and when she peed, I would praise her. It does no good to scold a dog for peeing inside unless you catch them in the act. Then just say "No" firmly and put it outdoors. The advice given about cage training is very good and worked well for my previous boxers, but didn't work well for the female. No idea why.

Boxer health issues are growing due to a long time of close breeding with championship stock. Everyone wants a boxer from a championship line, so the breeding has narrowed over the past couple of decades. That results in less genetic diversity and thus more health issues. They have also gotten larger due to this. Breeders have begun to recognize that and are now sending their breeding dogs off to other areas of the country. The biggest killer of boxers is tumors and cancer. Watch for lumps under the skin and take the dog to the vet to check any you find. A previous boxer I owned was the grandson of a Westminster champion. He was very big for a boxer and weighed in at 98 lbs. He lived to be 14. My last boxer was from a championship line and died at age five. The vet surmised it was from a ruptured tumor.

Another bit of advice for boxer owners is obedience training. Wait until it is six months to a year old and then enroll in an obedience class if you have one available. Boxers respond very well to obedience training and it will make a big difference for the rest of the dog's life. They are great dogs, love to play, are very friendly, and full of energy. I like the appearance without the cropped ears. I didn't crop my last two boxers.
