Default mileage on your truck?

Hey guys,

Thinkin' about buying a daily driver and wanted to get a 99+ Ext. Cab P/u. Im on a budget, so what do u guys think about the ones with 100,000+ miles? Still running strong? Known problems? I will be driving it back and forth from Houston to Denton Texas (about 270 miles) maybe once a month, but will mainly just be driving around campus and in town.

If i get one i would def. want to do the Escalade or Denali gauge cluster swap and the black dash trim.

What do you guys think?

Mine doesn't have near that kind of mileage, but I think like any used vehicle it's a crap shoot. I bought my 92 Saturn w/ 144k on the clock and have put 32k on it since 5/03, with nothing more than brakes, tires and a little A/C work. I bought the car b/c I knew the owner and it had a stack of maintenance papers from Saturn about 5" thick.

Do your homework, and make sure that either you or a mechanic that you trust inspect the truck thoroughly before you buy it.

Even if you needed a motor and tranny, there are enough guys around here swapping 4.8/5.3's and 4L60E's that you could pick something up cheap if needed.

Good luck to ya!

149k and counting with the basic mods. No problems with the truck except for the abs module. I hear its a common problem with the module shorting internally and running all the time with the 99 model year.

I like new or low mileage vehicles. If used, you never know how the previous owner drove it or maintained it.

Mine has about 75k but shows 55k. I bought it used and found out the milage was disconnected. So I average it by the hours.

Oh and I bought it in McAllen, TX. I hear a lot of trucks there are having the milage turned off. I will never by a used car in the RGV again.

If you find one, shoot me the Vin and ill look it up to see what kind of work was done while under Warranty. Might give you and idea about the truck.
