Ok Since i bought my truck it had really really bad bump steer. The truck is an 05 crew cab. I bought brand new tires, bilstein hd shocks, cut the bump stops and it's still terrible. the truck has no lowering components as far as i can tell. However it does a 2'' drop shackle, and the previous owner (idiot) took the load leaf spring out, to bring the rear down more. I 'm gonna replace it once i get a chance. I know that is contributing to the problem. What else could cause this?

how new are the shocks?
you shouldnt have any bumpsteer unless you modified the suspension
it it aligned properly
do you have heavy rims? too much unsprung weight

I bought the shocks brand new. As far as i can tell the front suspension is stock. Also still rolling on the factory 17(the ugly chrome ones) lol. i do need an alignment, but its not out terribly bad.

how do you know how bad the alignment is? id start there
one bump of the curb can throw it out

I have an 05 and if i hit pot holes or large bumps the truck practically jumps over to the side...i am lowered though but it is annoying.

Is the truck 2 or 4 wheel drive? Any chance you could post up a pic?

How are the tie rod ends? Idler and pitman in good shape?(If its 4wd)

steering parts wear whats the difference if its 4x or 2x, worn parts will do the same
a bad alignment means the suspension geometry is off, and constantly changing

if your hitting bumps and the truck jumps around its either shocks or springs
in my experience the stock springs wear out and so goes the spring rate, and that means your suspension cannot control its self, springs not only hold the trucks weight up but it pushes the wheel down to follow the road
look at lifted trucks, most have tire cupping, caused by an imbalance in the suspension, usually its springs sometimes its shocks

i had the jumping around for a long time, i changed the shocks and felt no difference
i changed springs and it fixed the issue

lowering springs have a lower spring rate compared to stock, they have to be that way cause there is no way of adjusting height, if we could adjust height say with a coilover then the rate could be any number
if you have ever looked at springs side by side a lift spring will be the same length as the stocker and a drop spring but the thickness of the coils will be different
