Default looking at an SS

Well, to start off I have an 03 lightning with 17,000 miles, unmolested. Found an 03 Silverado SS for 24,000 with 35,000 miles. Pretty decked out other than onstar and xm. Wondering if this is a good deal to trade in the lightning (would like to have an extended cab and cheaper tires) and if anyone could chime in theyre opinions on the SS.

I know this is an LS1 site so don't want to hear the whole ford sucks thing, been on the board for 3 years now, had an 02 cammed LS1 that some drunk guy ran into so i decided on the lightning. I know the lightning would smoke the SS and has more mod potential but I plan on getting an LT1 as soon as i get a garage.

SSS are nice, but I'd definetely keep the Lightning. Throw a #6er on their and you're making great power. A buddy of mine dynoed 408.6hp 522.2tq with a #6er and some other bolts on and tuning. Keep the Lightning!!!

The Silverado SS is a very nice truck. Very comfortable, good brakes, really good handling for its size, plus it can handle three more people than the lightning. It also has very good mod potential. A couple weeks ago my dads 03 SS ran a 12.83 so you can make them kill stock lightnings and some modded ones. I think 24,000 is a pretty reasonable price. Either way good luck with what you do.

24k is a good price Blue book is over 27k
now if you can just get a good deal on your trade and your not upside down

I was looking at getting a lightning before I bought my GMC the only reason I didnt was the stealership had sent it off to auction 2 hours earlier talk about being pissed after driving 1.5 hours and telling them to be ready I had cash in hand
so I went next door and got a GM

maybe its devine intervention Im alot happier with this truck than I would of been with the lighning
lighnings are great trucks though

figure i'll go talk to them see what they can work up, might end up upsidedown but the truck is alot cheaper than mine. Very nice blue SS, need to take a better look at it, tires seem to be fine, one has some weird wear, guessing from the AWD. IF they try to tack on another year or jump up my payment it's not going to happen. If the deal doesn't seem right then i'll keep the lightning, these two trucks are probably the only ones i would drive, other than the newer gmc's that have the 6.0l. Lightning is faster but the SS just seems to be alot nicer, plus the extended cab helps a crap load.

What did your dad do to his SS for those times and how is the milage if your not hauling azz everywhere. Guess it's basicaly like my ls1 though, but with a few more lbs.

It really depends on what you want the truck for, cab room, build potential, etc..

Seems to be a really good deal 24k with 35k miles on it seem about right. The only thing I would worry about is almost out of warranty and thats about it. Be sure to get an extended warranty on it if you decide to purachase it.

Have you checked ebay. for 3k more you can get one with lower miles.

I am a die hard GM guy so I would like to say go get that SS............ but your lightning with a few bolt ons will tear an SS apart. And to tell the truth I am not real impressed with GM on how they went with the SS.
