I believe alot of people like to throw the heavy weight out there to try to impress people. "Yeah, my 5500lb brick went 14.5. Yeah, I'm making a ton of power, just think how fast I would be if I only weighed 4000lbs like some of you lightweights."LOL. Thats just how some people come across. Some people swear their truck weighs 7000lbs, when in reality its more like 4500.

The biggest factor is probably the physical size of a truck. It's hard to believe it only weighs 500lbs more than a GTO when it physically takes up a lot more space. But you gotta remember that the back half of the truck is basically nothing

But GTOs don't have a true frame, they have an independent rear suspension (not sure if that is lighter than a solid rear or not), they don't have leaf springs, lighter/smaller tires.

Trucks are definitely heavier, and don't distribute weight anywhere close as a car (in most cases anyways haha).

I always laugh when I'm over in the dyno section on tech and people post I did so and so HP through these "heavy 17" wheels, tires, and 12 bolt". lol.

Heavy, LOL, my oem 20s weighed 84lbs each with the tires. Thats heavy. Went with a stock 16" aluminum wheel and a 255/50/16 tire for the track for around 34lbs IIRc.

i know this thread is like beating a dead horse. but someone told me a while ago that going from 3rd to 4th door was and extra 100lbs. i dont know if thats true or not.

i think people would be surprised at how much the little stuff adds up.
