Default kind of a dumb noob question, but...

does anyone kno if an LS2 would fit into the engine compartment of a Pontiac Aztek without a lot of mod to the compartment? i was thinking a 5.3l but after seeing forums about how much power a 5.3 would make, i was thinking the Ls2 would be better to suit my needs. i plan on upgrading the axles and such so it wont be a messed up wasted of time. any details would help. thanks

well i havent thought about a tranny yet. i wanted to wait until the 6l80 became a part in GM's Performance Parts catalog. i probably would try and get an awd system from a wrecked aztek or rendevou(sp) and put that on.

i was thinking about the Ls4 fwd engine but after seeing that the power wouldnt be as much naturally as an LS2 would, i decided on that. but do you think it would be a hassle to put it in?

right now i just want to see if an engine swap in that sized vehicle would be optimistic(sp). the only thing im worried about is if it will fit. ill figure out the axles and tranny and such later. besides, im nowhere near the start of the vehicle build. just making a plan when i AM able to start.

one of the reasons i wanted to build up on an aztek, is because its something that not many people would think of when they see performance. and i dont blame them because its just a midsized SUV w a not so hott V6. but i think it would be a great sleeper vehicle.

it would be a sleeper but personally it think the aztecs are ugly as all get-out but im sure it has a large engine compartment probably close to a colorado bay and there have been ls1 and ls2 swaps in them

something else to think about is it would be hard to sell... most people get aztecs for fuel economy and people haulers

why not do an ls2 astro build already has awd in some

lol, i see ur point about azteks being ugly. and i agree. but im just hooked on the fact that its sort of a One off idea. i mean, i know GM and a couple others did the same concept. but for a daily driver, it hasnt been done.

Believe me, the MPG on the thing w the V6 isnt far from the LS2. if the GTO is any indication, then they are almost identical. yes, the SUV is a lil heavier but the results would be the same. so i dont think the fuel economy thing and the people hauler would be a problem w me. lol, i still plan on hauling people in there, but also hauling ***.

yea i kno im rambling and **** but i guess i can explain why the Aztek...

SUVs arent though of as performance vehicles, even though they have big V8s and such. im big into SUVs because of the people hauling, towing, and comfort. true a truck has those things, but they dont have a 3rd row. lol, so i guess u can say im an SUV nut.

what about a tahoe or suburban or the gmc brothers of them they would be so much easier to do

a s10 blazer would be fun too

there is a obs tahoe on here that can lift the front wheels

and if you got a nbs (01-06) there will be a lot more tech help on here too

lol, ur sooooo trying hard to get me out of the Aztek build.

sigh*, i dont kno man, im either going for the LS2 or just going to build up on the 3.4L V6 thats in there. i just dont kno if i can make good power off that V6.

My next vehicle would be the new GMC Acaida thats coming out. i wont buy new but thats the new vehcile i want.

A Suburban would be my last and ultimate vehicle. on Ls1tech.com about a year or so ago i posted a plan for it. lol, but it was ridiculed much worse than this idea was.

The Aztek was planned w the LS2 w/TT, along with reduced weight materials that would make the curb weight about 3100-3200 lbs...

The Acaida i planned on the L92 w/TT and maybe if itll work, a SC on top. the reduced weight materials would also be as well as carbon fiber material being used to make the weight 3200 lbs as well....

now this is the big one... The Suburban but it will be a one off concept in its own right... now i kno this is weird and ur going to rag on me and ****, but here goes...

I plan on a complete rebuild from the ground up. an LS7 w/quad turbos (see where they called me crazy?), the latest in Automatic Transmissions, fully built motor, carbon fiber body to bring the weight down from 7000+lbs to around the same weight as the other 2. maybe a little heavier....

so yes i am crazy. but to create something not alot of ppl made is what i wanna do.
