Will the 60E in a 96 S10 Blazer bolt up to a 5.3?

That's what I thought, but I wasn't sure. I've been borrowing my father's Blazer since the beginning of July (as you know my trans is smoked), and he just told me that he's going to sign it over to me, so I'm now the proud owner of a 110k black 96 Blazer as well as my truck. I already started daydreaming about swapping the 5.3 from my truck into the Blazer when I do my LQ9 lol.

It depends on whether or not it is a 60 degree or 90 degree V6. The 60 degree is different, while the 90 degree (AKA 4.3L) is the same traditional Chevy pattern. The transmissions with the traditional pattern will work, but will also require either the correct flexplate and spacer, just like when performing a 80 swap or a custom converter to mate the two.

Thats what I thought too. The input shafts are different lengths if i remember from a similar thread a year or so ago.

As for the bolt pattern 1bear is right. 2.2, 2.8, 3.8 will all have a 60 degree pattern but the 4.3 has a 90 degree like the v8's

It's a 90* 4.3 V6...so I guess that the bellhousing will mount to the block from what you're saying, but it will require a flexplate and spacer that is consistent with the one from the 4.3? Will the 4.3 flexplate swap over to the 5.3, or is the crank flange and bolt pattern different?

I guess it's all going to come down to what you're trying to do. If you want to put it in your 99 you probably should find a different trans 98+
