Default Insurance question

I have a 2003 Silverado with the 5.3 engine in it.
The engine hydrolocked and the Chevy dealership said it needs a new engine.
I am going to do all the work my self.
My question is...
what kind of check should i expect from the insurance check to cover this expense.
thanks

Did you get a full replacement estimate from the dealership to the insurance company? And did someone from the insurance company inspect the damaged engine?

I don't know about actual insurance amounts but I bet you could pick up a 5.3 used for less than the deductible. Depending on your policy.

What caused the engine to hydrolock? Are you talking about normal insurance you carry on the truck, or some kind of warranty you bought? If you are talking about normal vehicle insurance, you won't get anything from the insurance company, because most policies don't cover engine repair unless it was cased by some kind of collision accident.

the dealership is dealing with the insurance company with all the details.
The truck has about 11,000 miles on it. so i dont know what they are gonna do.

the insurance company had the truck towed over to the dealership.
so i dont know if the claim adjuster inspected or not.

give me opinions and or advice

the comp part of the insurance covers flood and other types of mother nature. it doesnt only have to be collision damage.

we had alot of rainfall here the other day, so the truck ended up swimming alittle and got water all in the engine. the dealership told the insurance the engine was toast and it needed a new one.
