I found that I burned oil when I used Mobil 1 for some reason. I switched back to 10w30 valvoline and it doesn't burn a drop. I need to run 100weight oil to get my pistion slap to shut up.

I use to use Mobil 1, never had any problems with it, but now I put Pennzoil
in all my stuff. Never run any longer than 3000 miles. Most of the time it's
2500 miles. I think if oil was changed often any oil would be OK.
Just got tired of paying 4 bucks for a quart of oil.
If there was oil that cost 50 bucks a quart someone would swear by it.

Just my 2 cents

I also think you are using the wrong weight oil. I use 10w30 in my jetboat that sees extended periods over 6k rpm. 50w oil is too heavy!!!! the thinner the oil the more penetrating power it has. modern oils do not break down as easily so heavy weight oils are only needed in EXTREME applications. Probably wayyyyy more extreme than anyone on here will experience.

Even I had FI I would stay with a SYNTHETIC 30w oil. I truly do not see the need in anything more.

Believe it or not. The old Husqvarna motorcycles had a sticker on the gas tank
saying you could use vegetable oil as a pre-mix oil

in that engine you don't need more than 10w30 unless you have a power adder and then you might need 10w40.

Using 20w50 or 15w50 is not providing better protection and it is costing you performance.
Maybe if i had a stock engine with stock bearing clearances

I have tried several oils and done analsys.

I have a firm believer in AMSOIL! I run it in my track car, in the wife's suv and the silvy will get it after break in!

I personally like the extended oil drain intervals. 9k+ miles on NA application!

Keeps the daily drivers on the road instead of on the lift changing the dino lubes!

On the track car - the turbo really chews up dino oil pretty fast - But AMSOIL keeps up against the heat - it just wont break down!

Only thing is it tends to thicken up a little over 9k + miles and will go in as a 10W30 and come out as a 20W40. I am running 5W30 for the winter and will see how it does. Wear materials are very low and TBN seems to be staying very good.
