everything is making sense so far.

 

My uncle wrapped his rubber fuel line around the bend on his A/C acumulator (that thing that always condensates and drips) on his 73 Suburban. That was 30 years ago, I don't know if it did anything, but it seems like it would at least cool the fuel charge, much like a cold can.
