I wanna have the fastest something. There's ppl on here with fastest size engines, fastest N/A engines, fastest 4wd, etc. etc. I'm gonna shoot for the fastest N/A (no turbos, superchargers, nitrous) bolt on ONLY 4.8L. No engine work, no head work, no cam, strictly bolt ons. Exhaust, intakes, e-fans, pulleys, tuning, throttle body, TB spacers, and whatever else i left out. After all that i'm sure there's not that many ppl left. Transmissions and rear ends don't matter. But anyhow, i just wanna know what to shoot for, thanx fellahs.

 

4.8's are gutless....i have one......it takes a lot to make one run.....that's why i've got a 6.0 sitting and waiting to go in mine.......it's not worth all the $$$$ to make a 4.8 run.....do a 5.3 swap or a 6.0 swap.......imo

 

Well most the things u do to the 4.8's will work on the 6.0's too. But yeah, i gotta drive my truck, it's not just for racing, so i'm gonna run the 4.8 until it wont' go anymore, but yeah in the next couple months i will be buying a 6.0 and putting a T56 behind it. Just for when the 4.8 does die on me.

 

cant get a fastest n/a title without breaking open the motor. even if someone has heads and cam its still N/A. good luck beating 01 thunder out of his position. he's pretty comfortable where he's sitting, and should be even faster now.

 

Yeah the 4.8 will scream given the right parts. Like TX said ask 01 Thunder. Or SSlow4.8; his is pretty damn quick as well. I got a 4.8 as well and think I'm gonna see what I can get out of it instead of swapping in an lq9, even though I probably will one day. I think some very impressive numbers can be made considering its size. It just takes a lot of time and research. That and people making fun of your little motor.

 

My 4.8 is pretty quick, its never even had a valve cover off it, just one of them fance CAI and a turbo muffler And it's a big heavy 4x4 xcab

 

I would like to see someone with a N/A 4.8l run in to the low 13's or high 12's. If i had not already had the turbo kit i would have gone for it.

 

i think 01 thunder can get the low/mid 13's when the weather gets good. he just did his heads and a "mystery mod". he can do a short belt for that extra umph.

cam is a bolt on now someone wit a 4.8 break into the 12 with no fi or NAWWS deserves a title
