I watched JJ (SSescalado) throw a rod on his 5.3 at the track from bouncing off the rev limiter. It was an Ed wright tune that wouldn't shift into 2nd at WOT beforehitting the rev limier. The hole was the size of a Fosters can.

sometimes hiting the revlimiter is more a function of your shift down points than the limiter itself. for some reason if you floor it while in 2nd and you are right at that limit where it will shift down into first it will hit the limiter at the top of 1st. it wont do this on a normal acceleration from a stop. there seems to me a deley of some kind where it cant shift up too soon after shifting down.

did it happen when you floored it from a roll or from a stop?

i have had it happen from a stop too but only when i spin so much it hits 2nd gear, then hooks and brings the rpms back down and downshifts.

We were going a slow maybe 10 mph roll. I have had this issue before and we thought we had it worked out but at the track I ran a 13.6 and on that run it wouldn't shift the 2-3 which made me upset cuz it would of been alot better.

Damn dude, that really does suck. I figured it something would've had to let loose for there to be a huge hole. A crappy casting is hard to come by, especially with GM's 6 sigma quality control.

Cool to see that your upgrading on an otherwise unfortunate situation!

Yeah something had to let loose for this to cause the damage.

It is good I'm upgrading but it still isnt' cheap someone once told me if you are going to modify a vehicle you might as well drive down the street and throw money out the window.
