You need to kick the guys *** because he said it would drop right in.
Maybe that other guy on here still has the crank for sale for $100? That sucks you have to go thru all this trouble..

a 4.8 crank would require new rods and pistons as well, a 5.3 6.0 or 5.7 crank will work perfectly for you though.
Ok next thing, since I am going to put after market heads on, should I go ahead and take them off and try to sell them?

, dude, stay away from the 99-00 6.0's simple as that. i would be leary of those heads. since it looks like you got an older crank i have to wonder if that was an iron headed motor at one time. here is a pic of a 2002 6.0 crank flange.

I'm with Parish8 on this one. That motor isn't worth your time. You should have one that would drop right in and bolt up. Once you try swapping cranks and getting parts to fit, you are opening yourself up to lots of potiential issues, including a much shorter life of the motor. Just getting new gaskets all the way around is going to cost you a couple hundred bucks. I bet that motor is a service pull. It will probably need a hone job on the cylinders. Watch out, its going to add up $$$ Look up some posts by Texas Terminator on this board from about 6 months ago. He bought one of these motors that was supposed to "drop right in" and his truck still isn't running yet.

Well my buddy and I are going to be tearing the motor down probably this weekend and giving it a look over. He works at a performance shop and knows his "in and outs"
Plus he can get me a discount on the stuff I need.
Also, if I need to hone the cylinders my friends dad has a shop that does that, so I wont be paying anything to get that done. The heads dont bother me as I am going to replace them anyway, same with the cam. The only thing that probably will remain original would be the block itself. I didnt have the money the buy a newer 6.0 and came across this one pretty cheap, so I figured I can just piece it together day by day and address the problem areas here and there.
