I received my 2000 6.0 motor today.....that bitch is the heaviest thing I've ever had to lift off a truck in my whole entire life.
It looks good, has aluminum heads (not like those will stay on anyway!), missing an intake like the guy told me (planned on an aftermarket one anyway), other than that, its ready to rock!! Hmmm, what to do first. How about clean it, any cleaning tips you guys can give me??

Well, I'm glad the motor finally got there
but, don't the 2000 6.0L have the bigger crank also???
I've heard it's just the '99's and I've heard it's the '00's too so I don't know what to believe.

why don't you do your self a favor and get some measurements on the back of that motor, maybe even a pic or 2 with a tape measure next to the crank flange. i have a newstyle6.0 and a 5.3 siting here that i can compare to just so you know that it is going to fit.
need a measurement from the flat part of the flange where the flex plate will seat to the mounting surface on the block to tranny, put a strait edge across there and then measure to the flange.
i have only heard 01 and newer will fit.

I dont have a digital camera, but I've heard the '00 ones wont fit because of the crank also, but then again they were supposed to have steel heads. The guy I bought it from said it was an end of the year '00 so it was almost if not the same as the '01's, but I'll take some measurements anyway here in a bit

The correct crank is near flush with the rear main seal, the 99-00 cranks will stick out dang near 1/2 an inch.Well maybe .350 of an inch.Aprox.
So what do I need to do? Buy a new crank? Will a 5.3 crank or 4.8 crank work?

Ah ****, here we go...
Did you find out if the crankshaft will fit yet?
