Unhappy I got a BIG problem with my Nelson tune!

First im not mad but I have a little problem. Im suppose to have a 93 octane tune and when I talked to Allen he said it was a very aggressive tune that he gave me. He also left it unlocked so I could take it down to St Charles to have it dynoed tuned with HP tuners in a couple months. So I got out the old Diablosport programmer and went to the live data. Ive noticed its feels like its not as pulling as hard with this tune than the last one that was for the stock cam. This is what I found out.

1. Its got 49* if spark at WOT
2. And the computer starts to retard the timing at 2500 rpm and retards it to 8.00* at WOT.

SO i went to the Mobil 1 and put in 30.00 worth of 99 octane with was only 8.3 gallons and it still didnt help at all! Im not mad or anything but Ive never heard almost 50* of timing for a cam only setup. Im going to make a appointment to have it dynoed tuned very soon.

that's certainly one "Hot" tune.

With that much spark I would have to run 116+ octane.

LOL

Rick is having great results by running lower timing instead of jacking the timing to the sky. More than one way to skin a cat I guess.

Allen will fix it although it sems odd to have timing that high unless you have a problem somewhere and the PCM isn'nt seeing the airflow that it should be. IE you are not getting into the correct cells because your motor isn't flowing like it should?

there is alot more that effects what timing is being run than just the octane tables, those other timing tables need to be changed also. The beauty of ls type cylinder heads is that they are very efficent and you dont need to run gobs of timing if the tune is right on, I think 49 degrees is too much especially for ls based engines I run around 24-26 degrees wot and have had great luck on my NA setup, but the tables that deal with air and fuel have to optimized for this to work especially with an aftermarket cam, intake, exhaust and head work.

Just my .02
