Default How to stop thieves?

Well I got hit last night. Probably some stupid kids but still thieves.

Woke up to go to work, notice tailgate is open. WTF?? Go to rear of truck and notice no tail lights. Dammitt!! They stole my tail lights?! Come on.

So then I had to find the screws on the ground (in darkness) and put stockers back on to go to work. At least that is all they took. I have a $1500 fifth wheel hitch, and $600 air-flow tail gate they could have easily taken but didn't. So I guess it wasn't too bad.

Does anyone have a good way to lock tail gate to stop this. It is not stock tailgate and has no lock. I only bought the gate a few weeks ago and now this. My stocker has the locking handle, but won't work on this. Any ideas?

Thanks

Sorry to hear about your problem. Two things I can't stand are thieves and vandals. Have no use for them. Dam sons-a bitches. Maybe you can get a BIG dog.

You know it was kids if all they took was the taillights... Goto TSC or someplace that has odd hardware and get some funky hardware with torx heads or something... from expereince, no one brings a torx bit to steal stuff... then all you have to worry about is them getting mad and smashing them because they can't get them off....

get an aftermarket alarm and add a pin switch to the tailgate, they won't be able to open the gate to access the screws for the lights without setting it off and you probably will catch them off gaurd. as a bonus you would have more protection for the the truck and you could even add remote start and other features.

I'm not familiar with the design of that aftermarket tailgate, so I don't know how to secure it.
