WELL I WAS ABOUT TO PM YOU ABOUT YOUR TURBO TO SEE HOW GOOD IT WORKED I HAVE BEEN TALKING TO GEOFF @ THUNDER ABOUT A 402 AND TURBOING IT BUT WE DON'T KNOW YET.THE SET UP WE WERE TALKING ABOUT IS A 402 WITH 8 TO 1 COMPRESSION SO I CAN JUST TURN UP THE BOOST IF NEEDED .JUST DON'T KNOW WHAT TURBOS TO GO WITH.
BUT FOR NOW I AM BUILDING A 6.0 WITH 5.3 HEADS 5 ANGLE VALVE JOB HEADS SHEAVED 20THS WITH 216/220 COMP CAM AND 1.85 COMP ADJ.ROCKERS ARMS.SHIFTING @ 7000 AND I HOPEFULLY CROSSING @ 7000. TO SEE SOME GOOD 11.s ON ALL MOTOR. WITH THE REST STAYING THE SAME.

Hoping to finally start my engine swap and turbo in the next week or two. Goal for me is 12's and maybe high 11's. Anything will be better than a whipple running in 100 temps outside. Have not decided on a tranny yet, I really would prefer the 60, after reading of the long first gear in the 80. I definately plan on a FLP, and plenty of SS guys are running big power with them these days. I really like the fact that the 60 will bolt right in, no driveshafts to change, stock transfer case with funtional push button 4wd, and better gearing for running 33 inch tires. All that makes it hard to talk myself into the 80 until I try the 60. what would chuck do?

once you get the turbo i dont think you will notice the taller gearing on the 80. i know chucks 4l60e's are geting stronger all the time.

with your future set up i think it depends on what you plan on doing with the truck. if you race it a lot like i do and push that turbo and motor to the limit then the 4l60e will not last forever and you will be messing with it again. swaping to a 4l80e would likely be the last time you messed with the tranny.

I don't plan to push it nearly as hard as you, I am looking for a reliable 500+ at the wheels. If and when then motor goes, probably step up to a forged 408.

Don't want to steal the thread, but has anyone done the 4wd 80 swap without having to switch to a manual transfer case? The first gear I am afraid of because of the 33 inch tires I run, not only becuase of their size but also there weight.

Can't wait for your truck to get done Mike.

I still can't decide what I wanna do. I'm more than likely going to go w/ a 382 on spray. Hopefully w/ some AFR heads and an LS6 intake. I would really like to see some 11's on motor, but I just don't think I'm gonna have enough HP to do that.

it has been a long time in the waiting, but it is about time. My car has been in the shop for 5 weeks with a ripped subframe, as soon as I get it back, the motor is going in. Never done a swap before so be prepared to share your knowledge when the time comes

well im just hoping for 12's N/a with this big ole 5.3 lol, And hopeing to see some low 10's with a maybe 9 in there at the TS, good luck to all!

stage 1 4L80e (rated at 1200hp)
stock rear end (lol, no joke)
