How do the 2" 4" drops hook up ?
I been considering dropping the truck and adding some new wheels i think i have decided on the 18" MKW9's rims with nitto 555r's 305 45 on the rear and 295-45 555's on the front
How will this tire combo look on a stock height Truck ?
i don't want it too look like a monster truck but can live with some space in the wheel well's
If i have to go with a drop kit the Hotchkis 2"4" drop is the one i'm thiking about ..
How does it hook up on the street I don't wanna sacrifice my potential to hook up on the street or track
any Ideas on what i should do ?
thanks

Re: How do the 2" 4" drops hook up ?
When I had my Hotchkis 2/4 and a 2800 stall converter I had massive wheelhop. I decided to get rid of the Hotchkis kit and went back to stock for a while. The stock setup hooks much better than the Hotchkis kit.
Then I decided to go low again, but this time went with the DJM 4/6. I did not hurt my hooking performance close to as bad as the Hotchkis kit, eventhough it is lower. I would think that the DJM 2/4 would hook atleast as good as my 4/6, so I would recommend that. I loved the way that the Hotchkis kit handled, but it is a horrible setup for hooking in a straight line.

i wonder if at all there is going to be a big difference in the ext cab and the reg cab hooking abilty ?
Also what shocks were you running on your setup ?
Stock or aftermarket ?

I'm going to plug my Hotchkis drop. I've never gotten any wheel hop. I'm also still running the stock shocks. Keep in mind that the Hotchkis drop is more of a performance handling drop, hence the progressive rate coils up front.

I think that the problem was that the Hotchkis leafs only had like 3 leaves and the stock has 4 or 5 (can't remember right now). I think that this caused the leafs to flex more and caused my massive wheel hop.

And I see that Jim has a high stall and a blower, so I would have to stick to my recommendation of the DJM kit.

Re: How do the 2" 4" drops hook up ?
I'm pretty sure the stock leafs have the same as the Hotchkis setup. I thought that was odd when I swapped them out.
The hotchkis rear setup is better for hooking than the stock leafs because they are stiffer. I had wheel hop with the stock leafs and I have never had any wheel hop at all with the hotchkis and run stock size Bilsteins.
Ext. cabs may be a different story though.
