ok i bought my truck used from a police auction, its 2000 rcsb, 4.8. its way to fast to be stock. im beating people that say they've never been beatin by a 4.8. and after the race they go " holy ****, what do u have in that thing!" and i look like a dumbass and say " i have know idea". so... how do i find out what aftermarket performance parts are on my truck. i think it might be custom tuned. i know it has some kind of tune cause i got it up to 120mph. what do yall think??

by hville, do you mean huntsvegas?? just curious, I am a senior at sam about to graduate. Anyways, yeah could definitely have a tune to raise the speed limiter, and maybe even some more goodies. You could always have it dynoed at a shop somewhere to see what kind of power it puts down, other than visual bolt ons, it could indicate if there has been any work done to it.

Hey guys,
If you'd like to check the Re-Calls or your Service History & Vehicle Build of your GM Truck or Car, then you've came to the right place!
Post your questions along with your VIN # in this thread, and I'll plug them in here at work and reply with your status. I can check all re-call status, warranty status & coverage, service history along with RPO Options and etc.
I'll monitor the thread diffrent time over each day, so I should reply to your post within minutes.
Hope this helps you guys out....thanx!

I had to remove the stock speed limiter to dyno mine, cause it'd shut down at those speeds I indicated. Some say not to, cause the driveshaft critical speed can be exceeded, esp. if u have different gears in there.
Was it a "police" truck?

No, I think what they're sayin is it already has a custom tune as it sits. Cause stock, you're factory limited to some 93-98 MPH. I've read varying numbers. So there is no way that it has a factory stock tune.

what is the casting number on the side of the head. it will be stamped into it.
take it out and brake stall it. put the brake down, and slowly begin to accelerate until your rear tire turns over just a little bit and record that rpm. does it have a clutch fan, or electric fan? cold air intake? exhaust? headers? aluminum or iron block?
