Default How the *&^? do I get the side trim back onto my truck seats?!

Long story short I had my seats apart today and out of my truck. I took the side trim off my manual seats (where the tilt **** goes through) and I cannot get the trim back on! I even swore and pounded it back into place and it won't go on. 2 hours later I give up! Any tips or ideas?

Piece in question:

So it's not just me then? It's supposed to be that hard to get on? Seriously, if someone on the forum that lives near me can do this. I'll give them a couple cases of beer.

I've never been to Minnesota. Probably nice this time of year. Buy me a plane ticket there, I'll help you get it done. And I'll buy the beer.

There are clips that go into holes. one on the back and 2 on the sides just slide it up under the lip of the seat and then pop it into the holes. You may want to make sure the pins aren't bent. I've had mine on/ off several times and last time was just this Tuesday.

The hard part is getting the upper lip to slide under the seat cushion. I can't get the trim piece high enough to get the splined **** for the recline lever to come through. It's also hard to get it lined up front to back as well. It's just overall a shitty design. I consider myself at least an above average mechanic and I got over 2 hours into trying to get this piece on. It just aint happening.

Here's what the manual says:

Installation Procedure

  1. Position the trim panel on the seat from the front to the back.
  2. Instal the trim panel (1) to the seat by pushing in until the retaining clips are locked in place.
  3. Install the screws retaining the seat back release handle and the seat recliner handle to the seat, if removed.TightenTighten the screws to 2 N·m (18 lb in).
