Default hood or ls1edit, yur opinions

the hood is the east coast customs dual ram air hood ( www.eastcoastcustoms.com if you don't know what it looks like). and everyone knows what ls1edit is. my friends have found a very good deal that puts them at near the same cost. from the site the hood is 550 and we can get it for 370 (taxes and everything). the hood is prepped and ready for paint. however, if we were to get ls1edit i could get hypertech tuning as well as have a tuning program that i can use for the life of my truck. i would like to make the truck faster (even though i can't really use it right now) but DAMN thats such a good deal on that hood. i'm leaning towards the hood since i'll never find it that cheap again and my stock hood has a small scratch in it.

what would you guys do?

if the price on the hood is available for only a limited time, then i'd go with that. you already know the cost of ls1edit and it will most likely never change vs. kicking yourself in the *** regretting not taking the deal on the hood at the time it was offered.

Boy, that's a tough decision, but I think BlackBeauty's right - LS1Edit might even get cheaper eventually - something new will come out, and somebody might want to sell theirs. The cycle of computer software cost vs. the cycle of autobody parts cost is probably gonna work in your favor this way...

First off, How are you getting a deal on LS1 Edit? It's 550 for 1 or 1000 for 4 @ 250 each (w/ 1 cable ). And if you get that, no way you will need a HPPIII. It will do nothing for you anymore. IMO, I would get the Edit if you can pick it up with or w/o partners. I seriously doubt the software will come down anytime soon. It has just gone up recently. And as far as that goes, their is no competition that threatens Carputing and thier LS1 Edit.

greg, me and 2 friend were gunna go in on it together...which came out to about $330-$350 each. and we were going to scan zerog's computer and apply hypertech's tuning to all of our trucks (so we don't have to trial and error the fuel table quite as much). the 1 cable wouldn't really be a problem since we see each other all the time and live w/in 5 minutes walking distance of each other.

i don't see it coming down any time soon either. in face the 3 of us were pissed when the price went up. that's the whole dilemma here is that i'm afraid the price will go insanely high b/n now and when i can afford it again since it has no comptetion.

our plan as of the moment:
we're hoping we can pick up these hoods while we got the deal (the price we're getting is damn near 50% off), sell our stock hood cheap(maybe to a local salvage yard who needs them), buy ls1edit, "steal" the hypertech tuning, and then sell the HPP3 too. oh yeah we'd still have that 4th VIN we could sell too. of course that would work out great, and with our luck it'll never happen.

and then i could always get one of red53gmc's extra vins, but its so hard to get in touch with him and i rarely see him that using the cable would be a PITA.

Tough to get in touch with!? Oh that's right, you're always seeing my taillights. Can't catch me. If we can meet up somewhere when your in town, we can talk about the ls1edit. Oh yeah, my truck looks a little different now.

yeah tough to get in touch with. what ever happened that time you were supposed to meet cody to read his files? and yeah i guess i am seeing yur tailights, you got one sweet *** truck.

you busy next friday night? thats about the only time i have free in the next 2 weeks. wouldn't mind seeing the truck. am i to assume its shaved now?

and thats kinda what i'm talking about tuff to get in touch with. with me only being home on weekends, its kind of hard to arrange times with you to do anything. whereas if me cody and blake went in together i could just go to cody's house jack the cable and do whatever i had to.

let me know on next friday, anywhere in gonzales will be fine for me. or suggest another time and place and i'll see what i can do.
