That's a very cool offer RibeiroBJJ and much appreciated.
I'm going to try my luck at a few salvage yards tomorrow, but if that doesn't pan out I may take you up on it.

The TB coolant bypass is definitely not the problem here.

Lingenfelter will port and polish our TBs for less than $100 and work on a core swap basis if you can't go without one. They did a great job on mine.

I've never done it myself, but have bought several ported TB's, usually from Shaner, but once I bought from a member here who was doing them, and I had the same bucking/surging issue, then it went into reduced power mode.

Now I will only buy my ported TB's from Shaner or someone reputable.

I wasn't talking about the coolant bypass. Its the hole before the IAC. See the pic in post 14. See where its epoxied and has the hole drilled in the epoxy. Make that hole smaller so the engine gets less air at idle to make up for the air that is leaking past the thtottle blade.

same thing happened to me.... it would crank up . rev to about 3 grand then shut off and the "reduced engine power" would come on.... i had taken to much away from the throttle blade area... since our throttle blades sit like / and not | ... thats what really threw me off

anyway , put a stocker back on , really no need to port it.

Buy another throttle body and screw the port/polish...not worth it!

Even though I'm pretty sure I can DIY this next time around I would recommend sending em in :-)
