Default Here it is boys, my Hemi Ram track times!

For those who wanted to know what my new Ram would do, here are the times. I went to Infineon Raceway in Sonoma California and here were the conditions, 86*, RH 43%, AB 30.07, DP 51* and a 14 mph head wind according to the track announcer, all that equals a DA of 1839 feet plus the head wind. I usually go to Sacramento Raceway, it's twice as far and I just didn't feel like driving an hour and fifteen minutes to get there and then come back when I can get to Infineon in 35 minutes. With my Silverado, I usually ran .2-.3 seconds quicker at Sac than Infineon (not sure why), Infineon usually has a head wind and it had one tonight as well. OK, now that all my excuses are on the table here are my times. I got three runs in, two time trial runs and one bracket race run which I won but lost because I broke out. The last run, my bracket race run was the quickest, I actually backed off right at the end so I wouldn't break out but I did anyway.
1st run:-----------------------2nd run:-------------3rd run:
R/T:-.038, red light, oops!-----.561------------------.525
60': 2.395---------------------2.353----------------2.305
330': 6.653--------------------6.593----------------6.497
1/8: 10.201-------------------10.175---------------10.021
1/8 mph: 69.87 mph-----------69.12 mph------------70.29 mph
1000': 13.121-----------------13.218---------------13.021
1/4: 15.801-------------------15.852---------------15.624 (let off)
1/4 mph: 86.27mph------------84.47 mph------------85.41 mph

My best run of 15.62 could have been a touch lower, I let up because I was ahead and knew I had the guy beat but I broke out anyway, may have been in the 15.5's? I used the NHRA DA calulator and my best came out to a 15.30 @ 87.37 mph. The truck pulls OK in 1st and 2nd gear but really seems to fall on it's face when it shifts into 3rd.
Now for the other cars and trucks I saw there, I don't remember the MPH of them but I do remeber some times. I don't know what mods or engines they had since I didn't talk to the drivers, just saw them run.
99-02 Silverado EC Z71- 16.99, 4.8L or 5.3L, don't know.
00-03 F150 Super Crew 4x2- 16.70, 4.6L or 5.4L, don't know
99-02 RC Silverado 4x2- 15.12 4.8L or 5.3L, dont know
99-02 Silverado EX 4x2- 17.00 ??? Have no idea what happened
03-04 Hemi Ram RC 4x2- 15.37
New Hemi Magnum R/T- 14.69
Mercedes AMG E55- 12.45 (my dream car if I hit the lotto!!)

Well, that's my report, I thought my truck would run faster but considering the track I went to, it's not that bad. My last trip there with my Silverado just before I sold it, I only got into the 15.4 with all the mods listed below. Next time I'll drive up to Sacramento Raceway and see how it does. OK, fire away!

Very respectable time Jim. You should do better time with better weather as my friend's quad cab Hemi on 20's ran a 15.3 bone stock at sea level and cold temps.

Thanks guys, I wanted to give you guys an honest aprraisel of my truck and what it would do. I'm sure they are some faster and some slower Hemi Rams out there as we all know that the same set up trucks will run different times. I had a feeling it would be a little slower than I thought, the conditions weren't the best and the head wind doesn't help my rolling brick at all. The annoucer also said it seemed the the track was running slower, he knew alot of the regulars and would say what they usually ran, all were slower by about .2-.3 tenths, so the track was slow. That's not an excuse, just saying what I heard from some of the regulars. Under the right conditons it may get into the 15.3's, don't know but I probably won't try until like October when the weather will be better. I'll drive up to Sacrmento and run there, I can also weigh it to see how heavy it is, I figure it's at least 5200-5300 lbs.

Greggo! I'm not going to do as much to this truck as I did my Silverado (yeah right!) promised the wife. I kinda got caught up the in the mod bug, I wanted to have a fast truck on this board. I look at the Ram differently than the Silverado. The Silverado I called my hot rod, I tried to make it fast. The Ram I call my cruiser, it has good power for daily driving but could use a touch more for the track. The Silverado was like a Ninja motorcycle, I wanted it fast. The Ram is more like a Harley, it's a big comfortable cruiser. I will definitly get a programmer or tune of some kind. Superchips just released a tuner for the 03 Hemi Rams, they said it probably won't be until late 04 or early 05 until they have one for the 04 Hemi Rams. I guess they have totally different PCM's in them, so now they have to try and crack the 04 codes. It took them 1 1/2 years to crack the 03 codes, Damlair Chrysler isn't helping by releasing the codes. Maybe by then, I can even get a customg tune, we'll see.

How many hours do you have on it? I don't know if you realize that there is a "breakin" program your truck runs on until you get 90 hours (I think). After that time, it switches to another program and really picks up some power. I went from 15.65 to 15.18 after the hours with no changes.
