Well, from what I have seen reported here on the site... It isnt putting out quite what Dodge says it will.

Here is a link to an old thread on the dynos of the infamous "Hemi"!

240-250 hp, i'll probably get hassled for quoting a magazine but, from an article out of Sport Truck, they dyno a 2003 Dodge Ram 1500 5.7L stock and after some JBA headers and stock it put down 248 hp, and 304 TQ. These runs were done in second gear. My buddy went to UTI and a student dynoed his new Hemi and i think it put down 242 hp.

Those Hemi's vary a lot. I have seen posted dyno #'s as low as in the 240's and as high as in the 270's.

I've got an '04 QC 4x4 Hemi w/20's. I haven't dynoed yet but plan to when the weather gets a little better. I KNOW there's gonna be some HUGE loses through the drivetrain but I'd like to get a baseline anyways.

I'll post the results when I get them. I'm not ashamed even if it dynos 200hp. It at least FEELS like it's got a lot of horsepower. Actually, I am hoping for a little more than what the '03 guys are posting. From the little bit I've read on the DC Forums, the '03s seemed to have a few problems with the pcm. Even with the resonator (first uninstall mod to be made) on the '04, I hope there is an improvement. I'm not a truck person but this truck is a blast to drive. I can't speak for the rest of the DC line but my truck handles excellent thanks in part to the lower profile tires and the ride quality feels tight yet comfortable.

My only other full size trucks to compare were a '96 5.7 4x2 ext cab Chevy, a '97 4.6 4x4 RC F-150, and a '99 5.4 4x4 CC F-150 Lariat.

I love the Hemi Rams. I just read in Popular Hot Rodding that the Iron Block Hemi is supposedly on par with the LS1, so I just wondered if I smelled a little BS in the air.

Are there any aluminium block engines in trucks and if so why not, price/mass-production???

Will the Silverado SS get an LS2???

I know next to nothing about trucks so educate me, I am a sponge.

The all powerfull 5.7L hemi is dynoing in about the same as a 5.3L in our trucks. And we do it without hemi heads.

Nope, I think it's a 325. I've seen dyno numbers in magazines and the numbers do seem low (not that I believe everything the magazines states either). Either the Hemi isn't really making 345 hp and 375 tq at the crank or the transmission is chewing up more than 20% of it's power.
