Default Heated seats are frustrating

Wow - same problem on both the 03 denali xl and the 04 escalade.

Heated seat lights come on for about 20 seconds, then go off.

My research on the web, in other forums, seems to suggest that a dealer can do a scan and fix some codes to make this problem go away? Has anyone else had this done - I don't want to turn my vehicle loose at a dealer, spend $500 for a few hours work, then find I probably should have just replaced the seats with something off of ebay.

So is this what you did then? May I ask you what the cost of doing that was please?

yes it could be one of the wires in the heating element is broken or frayed..which would cause the circuit to break and the fuse to blow..we deal with these all the time at my job. the labor should run about $75 to 90, plus the cost of the element if that's the problem..it takes about an hour or less depending on the skill of the tech..

Most cases are found to be the seat back element being bad. I would suggest replacing the seat bottom also because it has more than likely started to burn also.

Thanks very much - this is good to know. If I may ask, is your job at an upholstery repair business? That is where I am thinking of taking my vehicles.

Makes good sense to have them both done when the seat cover is off.
