Default Headlight problem

All right guys, need some help. I noticed tonight that my drivers side headlight wasn't working (lowbeam). I figured it was just the bulb. Well I looked at the bulb and it didn't look blown. So I checked the fuse and all was good. I figured I would get a bulb anyways just to make sure. Well, the new bulb doesn't come on either. Any ideas?

I did do a little wiring the past couple of days, but nothing to do with the lighting system. I wired a few gauges and a driver info center. The driver info center got most of its wiring from the radio and the gauges just needed power and ground. Any help is appreciated. Thanks

Damn man. Sounds like a bad connection somewhere if you say the fuse and the bulb are both good. Id probably take a look at the wiring you did and make sure your grounds and connections are all good. Chances are, it probably has something to do with the wiring you were doing if the light went out right after it. I may be wrong though. maybe someone thats a little better with electrical stuff will chime in and help you out. Good luck man!!

Well I gave up dealing with it last night. I had to be at work this morning at 6, so I didn't fool with it before work either. About a mile from work, it came back on. Well, now it is working and seems fine. I take it there is a short somewhere, but can you tell when it is working?

I did install a new battery and positive cable this past weekend. Would that make any difference? Did it have to reset itself or something? As long as it continues to work, I am not worried about it.

whatever you were wiring.. did u ground it to a common ground wire... or did you ground it to the chassis? If you grounded it to another wire... you might have somehow spliced into something that has to do with the head lights and it might be arching or something. But, everything you have wired is working fine right?

If it happens again, try to put on the high beams and see if that side comes on. Next thing is to check the relay.. and you might need to check all the interior fuses too.. just for the hell of it.

i know this prob. has nothing to do with it but i had a problem with my fog lights only working sometimes and there was a short in the fuse box under the hood. i had to take the cover off it and unsnap the fuse box and then i pulled it up and found where the fog light signal went into there and sure enough it had a short in it. might want to check that out

I didn't ground off of any other wire. I grounded some of the new wires to the same point though. I don't think the wiring I did is a problem. Thats why I did specific research so something like this wouldn't happen. And yes, everything I wired is working fine.

I did check the high beams and they both came on. Like I said though, I will worry about it if it happens again. Hopefully it was a freak thing and will not happen again. Thanks though

If you lose a ground on your low beam wires only your highs will come on. I'm gonna go with the ground wire as well.
