Default Got a LS1 block, took it apart, how's it look?

Bought this block last weekend from a member on here/Ls1tech. From a 98 Firebird with 110k on the clock. Looks like the cylinders are good to me, but you guys are the experts.

Looks like normal wear to me...nice how you can still see the cross hatch after 110K

Think it'd be safe to just straight rebuild it?

You really should check it out with the proper instruments, dial indicators, etc...just to be safe. Even though the cylinders look fine they could probably use a good surface hone at the least. They should be checked for taper and out of roundness though. It's always a good idea to check the alignment of the cam and crank journals also, although I'm sure that they're probably fine. IMO, it's not worth it to tear it down and put it back together without checking it out.

Just a little update on this.

It's still completely disassembled in my living room. lol. I've got funds to either rebuild it with a little work done to it. or to toss some goodies on the 4.8. What you guys think?

LOL, sounds like me, I had an LQ9 shortblock in my living/dining room for months....my future ex wife loved it

I'd build the LS1, no replacement for displacement

I sure hope you didn't mix up the rods, and caps. I you did, you should get them all re-sized.

Amen to no replacement for displacement. And I think I might have mixed them up. Ruh ro George.
