GMC Sierra wont start
#1
My son brought my 2003 Sierra Denali QS home from school today and a few hours later i get in it start it up and get about 300 feet up my street and it stops dead! Put key back in and turn and nothing, not even clicking. Put thing on jumpers and volt mtr showing 14 amp in truck but still nothing. Went to push back into driveway and by the time I got there the battery was so down you could not roll up window with headlights on. Also most of the info in the Driver Info Center like MPG, personal trip, business trip, oil life % and some other info is missing the numbers and just shows dashes where numbers should be. My first thought is lack of ground or ignition switch or battery shorted out but I dont know. Of course this happened after 8.00 and the auto parts stores have shut down. Anyone heard of anything like this? 60k miles and up to now never had a prob.

With the DIC showing the way you say, it sound like you may have a PCM failure. BUt.....look and see if you have a Security lamp or a little Padlock lamp showing up. IF so, you have a Security issue, like a defective passlock sensor or so forth.

Took battery in and had it charged and it tested out fine. A friend of mine noticed that the fuel pump does not turn on as the key is in run as well. The possibility of a security issue is very interesting. I suppose this would kill the ignition and starter and fuel pump so the truck could not be moved? Where would the the passlock sensors be located?

The Security system will also not let the engine "turn over". If the Pass-Lock sensor is bad, you turn the key and get jack ****. The passlock sensor is located in what is called the lOCK cYLINDER cASE.

The power windows would not go down because the battery was down from trying to start it so much.

If it doesn't start on the 3rd crank it's not going to. Don't damage your starter with repeated attempts. I'd try disconnecting the pcm completely, reconnecting it to ensure the harness wasn't disturbed. When I blew a PCM it behaved in this manner as well.
Try a security relearn after making sure the harness isn't the issue.
