To answer your question: No, the discount does not include the cash allowance.

A better explanation: The price of the vehicle is the GM discount. Then you apply the cash allowance to that price.

GM employee discount: $20,000
......cash allowance: -$3,000
-----------------------------
...........new price: $17,000

At least, that's the way is should work.

I think you are right and the Dealer is trying to pocket 3K. What's about taxes. Will the truck be tax on the MSRP or the employee discount price?

I've been trying to get a dealer to sell me a 2500 HD Crew Duramax here with out trying to rob me on my trade in. Here is how the deal works. You go online and find the truck you want from the dealer you are looking to buy from. Then get the employee discount price which is called the GMS price to the dealer.

Sticker: $ 47,800
GMS : $ 37,500

I was told by one dealer that the $ 3,000 was already figured in and if you wanted GMAC 2.9 financing the GMS price went up $ 3,000. I was told by another dealer that I could get the $3,000 on top of the GMS price but they tried to give me $5,000 less than my truck is worth. Also the tax is figured on the amount fiananced after your trade in.

Tags, title, taxes are always a separate entity and always paid by the buyer.

Taxes should be on the final selling price of the vehicle. Although, some might tell you different. I only pay taxes off the price that I bought something for.

I'm not going to buy something on sale for $10 and pay taxes on its full list price of $20!

So in the link below is that the GMS price without the rebate or is the rebate included. Watching the TV ads and reading the fine print tells me that the rebate is already to the price shown in the below link. If so that the employee discount is nothing special. If you want 7K off a silverado you can get it anytime just by asking.

Link to employee discount

That price makes me sick Congrats to you....

Now here is how I feel about GM, they are reaching for a life boat. The only thing they have done with this sale is **** off lifelong customers, I will NEVER buy a new GM vehicle again. I feel they have taken 15,000 right out of my pocket with this new deal.

As soon as the promotion is over the re-sale value will stabalize and return to normal.

Vettes did the same thing when they did the blow out sale on the 2004 due to the launch of the C6.

You could always trade in your truck on a 05 and lower your payment (I almost did that in 02 when they were blowing out Camaros but removing the cam/headers and all the stereo/suspension would have been a huge PITA!
