Default Gas Gauge????

Does anyone else's gauge show empty when the truck is full? Mine does only at idle. When I put it in gear it goes back up to full. When the tank gets around 3/4 full it stops doing this. Bad gauge?Any ideas?

It sounds like you have a sender problem, to fix it requires the fuel pump to be replaced (one unit).

i just keep up with my mileage. mine goes wacko all the time! i just fill up from 250-300miles. i dont feel like buying a fuel pump. but thats just me.
i like to mess with people that have never ridden in my truck, i think it is fun. they dont when they see the needle past the red mark, and the Low Fuel light on. hehe
what is the price on fuel pumps nowdays??

$300+ from napa...for a pump

my fuel gauge is haunted... likes to jump around with the key in the on position and does it when sitting at a light on any kind of downhill or uphill slope.

Mine goes to empty when it is in park, and when i have a 1/4 of a tank and put it in reverse it goes to empty. GM knows about this problem but thet will not do anything about it. my mom's tahoe was not getting gas when it was at a 1/4 of a tank. she brought it in 3 times and on the third time she was given a paper with the model and model years this effected. i will try to find the paper, but i know all 99's and newer vehicles have this problem. once again the paper says GM knows about the problem and it says when in park and put it reverse it may go to empty.
