Default Fuel Pump- Stock or Upgrade

I think my fuel pump is about ready to take a crap. So I had a couple questions regarding fuel pumps and any help is appreciated.

I currently do not have any mods that would require a high performance pump, but will be upgrading in the future as funds allow. (Supercharger, or turbo, or maybe just a cammed 6.0)

My questions are these:

Would you recommend a pump other than stock until any of these upgrades are done? Which pump would you recommend?

If I was to put a HP pump in my truck, would I have to change anything else?
Would my regulator keep the fuel pressure at stock specs until I need more?

Obviously I am fairly new to computer controlled injection systems, so any help or input is appreciated.

Well, it may not be. Usually it started real quick, but as of late, it is slow to start. It has to crank for a couple seconds before firing.

Check the fuel pressure regulator. Pull the vacuum line off and see if fuel comes out of it, if so replace the reg. Or check it with a vacuum pump, if you want to be really thorough

I would NOT put a stock pump back in there, upgrade to a walbro and it will be alot cheaper and more dependable for you mods later on...
