Default Front wheel bearing went out!

Well, on my way home from school today, I started to notice my front driver side wheel making noise. It sounded terrible. I got to the house and jacked up the truck. I checked the tierod first. Then I shook the wheel/tire from the top to bottom. It looked like my wheel was about to fall off. Scared the **** outta me considering I was just at the track Saturday night running the hell out of it, and going well over 100 on the way home. If my wheel would have come off, I might not have ever posted here again. I then found out you have to buy the whole damn piece and not just a bearing. It was listed for $270, but I have a friend in the parts department that knocked off about $100 and got it to me for $152. I was pissed that it cost so much, but I guess it could have been worse. I could be dead and I would have never been able to make the truck fast. I'll be praying extra hard tonight.

Holy hell. That sucks!! If it was that loose the spindle is probably toast. Along with the bearings and races in the hub. Have you torn it down to check things out yet?

Yeah, I tore it down today. Thank goodness nothing else seemed to be roasted. I'm just glad it is an easy fix. It's sitting in my driveway right now on jackstands. I'm riding in my ghetto olds cutlass right now. Man, I gotta get it fixed asap( I hate riding in the cutlass). I think I might get out pretty cheap unless the other side bearings are gone too. I'll have to fix it tomorrow and jack up the other side to check things out. Man, I hope I haven't overlooked anything else in there that might be roasted.

I have 108,000 miles. I checked the other side and it seems to be ok. If it goes out soon, I'll definately let you know. Thanks. I've always wanted to build a badass jeep. Let me know how the project goes.
