Why did they add the bolt-on frame braces on the 01 and up trucks? Did they fail a crash test or something? Do they help with cornering? My 2000 doesn't have them and I'm wondering if I should buy a set and put them on.

If you don't know what I mean, they hang down pretty low and run right beside the catalytic converters.

 

From what I have heard, they put the braces on the frame to stop a vibration or resonance of some kind.

My 2000 has a vibration when slowing down coming to an idel and also has a clunk foward on the 3-2 and 2-1 downshift when braking.
