Default Flex A Lite questions

Well, I installed my FAL e-fans this weekend and I'm very happy with the results so far. I chose to use the VSC (newer model 33057) for now unless I have problems in the future. If I have problems, I'll use a custom harness. Anyways, I have a few questions. Are the fans supposed to run without the engine on and no key in the ignition? I thought that's why I had to find a switched 12V power source during the install. Also, can anyone tell me where find a good power source for the air conditioning clutch activation? I found a fuse in the fuse box next to the battery labeled "A/C Clutch" but that made the fans run all the time....even with the A/C off. Any info is appreciated.

Hhmn, You got sumtn screwed up somewhere. the fans should run 30 sec after the key is off. if the radiator is up to temp with the key on they should run. it may be that your temp setting is way off. I had two different vsc's (same #'s) and on each one the direction to turn the pot was different. if the pot was blue it was one way, if it was white it was the other way. the a/c wire is green with a white stripe (IIRC) Oh, and no they shouldn't run past the 30 sec with no key, and certainly shouldn't come on with no key. JamesB knows allot about these, might try PMing him or maybe he'll chime in..Good luck.

Oops, I'm sorry. I wasn't clear enough. The fans run for about 10 seconds or so after I shut the truck off. They don't come on again until I start the truck (if the coolant temp is hot enough). So, from reading your post, I guess everything is normal. I didn't know the fans will run for approx. 30 seconds after the truck is shut off. Thanks for the a/c wire color...I'll look for that. I assume that is the positive wire, correct???

Cool, glad your other stuff is working. and yes the G&W wire is positive, I use it now to turn on relays that are running my fans. I Really like the VSC, but after my 2nd one failed I can't see spending $90 before they come up with a real fix. if yours has the wires sticking out instead of spade connectors then you got a good one.
