Default First drive impressions, post-LS1 swap

Well, the TR224-equipped LS1 is in! I drove it home last night and I just can't beleive the difference already! Since we completely rebuilt the motor, I'm being very easy on her and have yet to go full throttle, or over 4000 rpm. And, it's still running on the factory 4.8 tune!

But I can say that torque is INSTANTLY available. The cammed LR4 was very peaky and pulled hard up top, where the LS1 has enough torque below 3000 rpm to loose traction at 1/2-3/4 throttle.

I can't wait to get this thing broken in! I want to romp on it sooooo bad, but I'm being a good little boy and holding back.

The swap seemed fairly easy. I don't understand why the General just doesn't offer this motor or the 6.0 in ALL of the trucks!

I'll have track times in a couple of weeks!

A TR224 in a 4.8? Wow...

How are things working out here, Scream? Is that cam on a 114LSA? Where's the power starting?

I think I had my cam, pulleys, fans , headers and LS1 edit installed on my SS within the first 1000 miles or so.

I do...and so far, I've been pretty good. I've only made 3 or 4 WOT passes in the 1/8th, and I'm going to Gainesville tomorrow.

The motor has right at 750 miles on it, so probably closer to 850 by the time I get to Gainesville.

I'm hoping for some high 13s. Not sure how this cam does in the top of 2nd/bottom of 3rd, but I used to pick up 21mph with the 4.8. Should be interesting.
