The 1985 TPI Corvette Sledgehammer by Lingenfelter did 253 mph, but that wasnt a production car, but that was 20 years ago.

Not trying to take anything away from the Veyron at all, that is a crazy fast and quick car.

The Veyron is listed doing the 1/4 mile at 140 mph, not 250+, the 250 plus mph is its top speed, the Enzo ferrari does traps at 133 and the Ford GT traps at 131 mph in the 1/4 mile.

The Veyron must come to a complete stop, switch into high speed mode, then it will accelerate to that top speed, if at any time the steering wheel is turned by more than a specific amount of degrees, the car comes out of top speed mode and is limited to 200??? mph, this is so that people cant go out a run 255 mph on public freeways that have bends and such, at least thats what Car and Driver said.

The Veyron is tech. marvel and it would be awesome to drive, at any speed.
Heck it weighs over 4000 lbs, it weighs more than my 1997 GMC 1500 rcsb V8 pickup, I have had my truck up to 122 mph, the Veyron can more than double my speed, thats hilarious.

peace

Be interesting to see where the new 2006 LS7 corvette goes on that list. I'm lusting.
edit- Sorry, didn't see it the first time. It's #10. Thought it would be higher.

198mph. The fender flares for the wider tires and the wider tires themselves limit the Z06. The same LS7 in a standard vette would do much faster. GM stated early on that it wasn't willing to sacrifice handling in order to break the 200mph mark.

I should have stated what I said differently. I know the Veyron runs the 1/4 @140. I just meant to state the fact that the top speed was listed as 250+.
