Default Engine swap = No start

Just got done doing a 5.3L engine swap in an '04 and now the truck has locked itself. Anyone know how to get passed the theftlock on these trucks after the battery has been disconnected for a few days?

If all you did was a motor swap, you shouldnt be having security problems... Only way you should be having security problems is if you changed the pcm or something...

Thought there was a code you punch in to the radio or something to unlock it again. Might be able to call the dealer with the vin and they could maybe look it up in a computer.

does it click? does it spin over? does it play dead? define "no start"

you did leave your stock PCM, correct? if not then start there. Do you have strong power on your horn or headlights? do you have any power? if all that looks correct then check the fuses at the underhood fuse box, there is two PCM fuses.

the purple wire is from the starter relay comanding the starter selinoid to activate.

We've come down to narrowing the problem to be before the starter relay.. I can jump the terminals at the relay and starter will crank, but it will not crank with the key.. Also when the ignition is off and the key is removed, the parking lamps stay on constantly, and you have no door lock or unlock control from either the remote or inside the truck..

You may need your BCM module reprogrammed. Not sure why, but sounds like it. It may have been shorted out.
Did you change the PCM out?
BCM (Body Control Module). It controls your anti theft, fog lights, and remote entry. If that thing goes, the vehicle will not start.

I was talking to the service manager at the local dealership and he said the same thing.. Im gonna have one of them bring their Tech 2 and see if they can re-flash the BCM..

Some food for thought...

Neutral saftey switch...There was a guy on FSC that did a 6L swap, it wouldn't start, he had it towed to the dealer and they replaced the neutral safety switch. I'm not sure if the BCM would affect the vehicles ability to start and run
