I went this route. Thanks to the info in this post, I was able to get the module out easily, and re link the lines.

I did a few things differently though. I installed a line lock in the front line at the master, and I also installed factory 05-07 rear drum brakes. So because I did the drums, I also installed an adjustable proportioning valve, and a 10 pound residual pressure valve in the rear line. I have bled it and have no issues, but I have not driven it yet to adjust any thing.

The whole thing went pretty well, no issues to speak of.

I'm doing both of these mods when I got the time. Don't mind technology actually but hate picking up the pieces due to things being engineered to fail.

Amen to that. I bought the truck a year ago, and the abs didnt work. Changed all the brake lines, both wheel bearings and sensors, double checked everything, ABS module functioned ok with a scan tool, yet, it never worked while driving and the dash light was still on, and never went off. Now I know what to expect while braking, and no random surprises!

Can the ECM and BCM be flashed to be inop? I would like to do this without deleting the brake lamp that is also used for the park brake.

The relay intermittently fails on mine and it sets off both lights when it does. Unplugging the module and resetting codes did not keep either light off. Neither did removing the fuse. As for as I have seen, the ECM wants to see a reference regardless.

I just fired my 01 up the other day after all winter and summer on jack stands. My brake setup works awesome, and I do not have the red brake warning lamp on, just the yellow ABS light.

Has anyone required the brake lines so they don’t go so far back in the frame. At least the front brakes? Seems like a lot of brakeline can be eliminated if you just go straight to the calipers. Just cut and reflare as needed or purchase new lines. They are cheap enough.

To me, it seems the work to benefit ratio of that mod would be 100% to 0%.
