I've got a 2000 with the auto trac and have dynoed a few times on a 2wd dyno with no problems. Like everyone said just don't accidentally press the 4hi button.

That would hurt pretty bad. I couldnt imagine the sound the drive train would make.

Funny on my 1500HD with just the Superchips tune and Magnaflow Catback I gained .3 consistently launching in 4HI. Must be due to the difference in our torque converters. The torque converter on the 1500HD will stall to 2500 rpm and spin the tires on a launch even with the G80 locking diff. I think most trucks will gain time ( be faster ) launching in 4HI once traction starts to become an issue. This becomes really clear when you try to launch with any boost built up at all with the STS turbo or any other power adder. Then the time savings will be measurable in seconds running stock tires and and no other traction aids.

With my new setup i will be running about a 200 shot and right now with the lil 5.3 and a 100 shot there is no way in hell I could hook up. I am going to try and have caltracs on and some stickier tires by TR shootout. If you have traction problems then you should lose et just shift out of 4wd after 1st gear.

some of the tuner shops have awd dynos now that the Subie and Mitzus are gettin more popular...but i would think your truck would have too long of a wheel base to fit.
