Default Doors unlock when key removed

Does anyone know what wires tell the BCM when the key is pulled out? I just did some work around the steering column, and now it doesn't seem to detect when I pull the key out.

Yes I know how to reprogram it to unlock one door, both, or neither.

Is it the small connector that plugs in on top of the tumbler?

I think so, yes. The other small wire is for the Passlock system.

My truck has never done this. Is it an option or something? Mine is an '01 Silverado 1500 LS, 2wd, 5.3L.

Check the manual if you still have it. You pull the turn signal lever toward you, go key on, key off, key on, key off. Release lever. Then push lock, unlock, unlock on the door. Voila.

Just did this this morning, works great! Except there are four options you can select by pressing the lock/unlock button in the correct order. I did the factory setting where it locks all doors once over 15mph, and unlocks all doors when the key is removed. Never knew my truck had this option
