Default Door/Key Chime

Where is the speaker for this thing? Is it built into the BCM? Can it be replaced?

Mine has started to a vibration to it and I want to get it fixed.
Thanks.

I could be wrong, but I believe this sound comes from the factory door speakers; it is controlled by the factory head unit.

If you have an aftermarket head unit put in, you will need an adapter to retain the door chime. Most adapters (a little box the size of a pack of gum) I've seen have a speaker built in to them. The sound comes through those things instead of the door speakers. My adapter sounded annoying, so I disabled the little speaker in the adapter.

I do not think you can keep the factory door chime (through the doors) with an aftermarket system.

slpsilverado - that does seem to be true of the 03+ trucks (looking at the schematics, anyway). But I have an '02.

After some research through the manuals, I was able to come up with some info on the BCM which stated how the audible chimes are controlled and led me to a schematic. So it looks like the speaker is in the BCM. So I guess I need to remove and see if it is just an obstruction or if I just need to replace the speaker. Hope it comes apart OK, I don't need to buy one of these.
