Default Dim Trailer lights?

I finally got a connector and got my trailer wires all hooked up. (the tuck didn't come with the tow package so i had to use the cut 6 wires that are pre-wired) I hooked a trailer up and the lights seem to work but are very dim. They worked fine when hooked to my friend's truck, so the problem has to be my truck. The only weird thing aside from being dim, is it has a row of 3 running lights across the back, with the hazards on these will flash. All very dim though. I put a meter on my 7 plug connector and everything works at the right time, however, it's only get like 2v. Anyone know what the hell is up? I'm going on a long trip with the trailer tomorrow and need this fixed asap. thank you.

Are the running light and brake light wires reversed? Kinda sounds like it, dim regular lights and flashing parking lights.
