Personally I don't think it's a good deal at all. Living in Texas you have quite a few options to buy an engine. You can easily find a good working low mile 4l60e transmission for $700 shipped(I sold mine for $400). I see 6.0 engines with similar miles go for around $1500 shipped. The 5.3L though are lucky to get half of that shipped.

Personally I wouldn't have paid more than $1000 for that setup, but if it's worth it to you then that's what counts.

Not a good deal at all my friend. I buy a lot of used tranny's and engines each year for vehicles in my shop and the last LS1 I bought, used only ran me $1600.00 and it had 44K miles on it.

Do some internet searching for Recyclers/Salvage yards and you'll find better deals.

Negative, way too expensive. My buddy just bought an 2005 5.3/4l60e with 50k miles for $800 of craigslist...

Nor bad if you want it now, but deals can be had by looking around. 5.3's and 4.8's complete can be found for about 500-700 depending on miles.
