Default Did the General make it?

We have been kicking around the idea of a crew cab 2wd to replace my wife's car. Did GM make them with a stick shift? How about a 4.8 stick shift? This would be a cruiser and looking for the best mpg possible as she drives more than she realizes.

They quit making those a while back. I think 07 was the las year you could get one like that and it was a regular cab with a 4.8 and a 5 speed. I might be wrong though....

they did put the stick behind some 4.8s, such as the RST. I doubt you find a crewcab with a 4.8 stick though. They mainly put them behind the 4.3L V6s. IMO, just find a clean crewcab with the 5.3 and get a good tune on it. The 5.3 wont struggle as much with the extra weight of the crew cab, and a good optimized tune will pull down some pretty good mileage numbers.

I'm not stuck on 4.8 vs 5.3 either will be fine. The mandatory points, per my wife, are crew cab, V8, 2wd and the stick shift.

You will have to swap a manual trans in as they didn't offer them in crew cab models. Has your wife ever driven a manual trans truck? Reason I ask is it is quite different from a manual trans car and is much harder to get going due to the extra weight. She may prefer an auto in a truck if she drives both to compare.....

cant get the stick with the 5.3, you would have to swap. The stick in these trucks was clumsy as hell anyway.

I have a 4.8 RCSB stick and I agree not the best manual trans ever. Very clumsy

Yes she has driven multiple trucks with stick shift trannies. We both know that the NV3500 is garbage. We knew that we would have to regear and swap a T56 for us to be happy. We are basically looking for a tame 4 door version of the 93 that will be my daily driver. The 93 will be a whipple, 5.3, T56, 4.10, 4 wheel disc ecsb that is dropped 4/6. We want the same basic idea but without the whipple and a "stock" engine. I just wasn't sure if there was a special edition truck that fits the bill.

Nothing will really fit the bill with what you are wanting. CC trucks just weren't offered with the manual. A t56 swap is more hassle than it is worth to be honest. Guys like quik have been thru the ringer on that one.

What is the issue with cc and a T56?
