This is a buddy of mine, the mechanic wants $1500-$5000, anyone willing to give him a hand swapping another set of factory heads in place for him? Id do it, but 200 miles away and dont have time.
is he in port arthur? and is he down for the weekend? i can get them done or do them myself, will not be responsible if the misfire is still there after a head swap..

did that price come from a mechanic down here in port arthur? if so which one? feel free to pm me if ya like

Could be a broken valve spring or two. Pull off the valve covers and look at all the springs. I saw a 5.3 the other day that was running like crap. Vacuum gauge on the intake and it was jumping. Should be steady. Found a broken valve spring. The guy put compressed air in the cylinder and was able to change the spring and the thing ran great!

Doesn't take a know-it-all to diagnose a ******* miss. Have you tried the coils like I suggested days ago? Looked at the wire harness and made sure its plugged in on cyl 5?

Are you 100% sure it has bad valves???? How bout a second opinion?

If you need head swap let me know we can do it whenever. I'll charge you $250. And like David said I'm not responsible if it still has a miss.

Sounds to me like your getting the run around from a typical shop. Do what these guys are suggesting... Do a compression test on it, if thats good thats one less thing it could be.. Pull the covers and make sure the springs are in tact.. This isn't rocket science were talking about.. But if you have a ton of money to dump by all means go for it.. Sounds to me like a bad injector or coil pack..
