Default Death of the 20" Wheel!

Ok after checking my mail for the 1st time in 4 days I get a ad from Chevy that says if you buy or lease a new truck or SUV by June 30, 2005 they will give (1)-$2500 wheel allowance for a set of (with like 30 different styles to choose from) GM 20" wheels. Or you can get (2)-$1500 GM cash or whatever they call it.

Dont get me wrong 20's look damn good on trucks and decent on SUVs but the days of someone standing out becuase they had some wheels are long gone! Everybody has them. I know that 20's are old news and people are riding on some huge as wheels these days but I see more soccer moms and old hillbillies with factory 20's these days! I dont blame them for wanting there ride to look good but who would of ever thought that they would have gotten this big. We all se the Dodge 20's and now Ford has like 7 to choose from its crazy! What has this world come to? On another note Friday at lunch I ran to a shopping center and saw a 03' Red RC Silverado with some 20'" spinners on it. I dont really care for them that much anyway but next thing I know this 45+ year old lady and she was like one of those ladidada snobs get into this truck! LMFAO! Im sure it was her sons or somehting but it was a trip!

I know what you mean, 20s look good but everybody has them now. I might just go with 18s next for a little less weight and to be more original. My truck used to stand out alot and now i see 20s on a silverado almost as much as stock wheels

I got the same letter Friday.....If I was buying a new truck I'd take them up on the offer. It's money that I don't have to spend. And the 20's do look better than the stockers.

20's aren't as rare as they used to be, but you do have to admit the factory 20's do look good. I personally think the spinners are too ghetto looking for me and too big of wheel with almost no sidewall just doesn't look right. But thats just my $0.02.

I don't understand why some people struggle w/ going to a larger wheel. No one ever said "you know, everyone is running 14's, I think I'm going to run 13's to be different." The rim sizes are getting larger and now 17's are standard.

If you truly like 18's, then run them. I wouldn't run them "just to be different" though. Larger wheels are popular because they look so much better than smaller wheels, especially considering how large trucks have become. Have you parked your NBS truck next to an OBS one? Notice how much bigger yours is? Now, go park next to a new F150 or Ram...they're even bigger than our trucks! The larger rims are necessary IMO to keep things in proportion. I like 'em.

I just feel like one of the reasons I got 20s was because they looked good and it made my truck stand out and now they are everywhere. Some nice 18s would not take as much power to turn as my 20s. My opinion has changed on 18s also, I used to think you had to go 20s to look good and I've seen some nice trucks on here w/18s... Thats all I was sayin

More and more people are getting into customizing vehicles, the big auto makers are using this as a selling tool. Its very smart IMO. When they start throwing turbo 408's into showroom models I'll have to throw in the towel
