Snake Eater: Glad to have you back. Ahhh...the kids ! I went away on bussiness once for 2 months when my now 8 yr old was 2. When I was picked up at the airport, I watched him playing from a distance as I walked up. When I got to where they were, he just turned around, saw me, got real quiet, put up his arms for me to pick him up so I did. He just silently put his head on my shoulder for the next 5 minutes. One of the greatest moments of my life. Just wanted to share that for some reason.

Igles: My best friend growing (best man in my wedding) up was on the USS Carl Vinson in 1988.

 

When my daughter who is now 8 was 2, I went away for about 2 months to Ft.Polk, LA. When I left she did not understand that I was going to be gone for that long. When I got home, she held onto me so tight. I almost started to cry. What really got me was when I went to leave for work the next day. I got all dressed up in my uniform and headed out the door. She ran over to me, grabbed onto my leg and pleaded with me to not go away again. I believe that moment is what made me decided to not re-enlist in the Army.
