Default Dakota smoked me

Ugh,
see title of thread...I have the truck in my sig and my buddy has a bone stock 2004 rcsb 4.7L Dakota.
From the light I get off half a truck ahead and he drives around me.
From 40 roll he drove away till around 90, but by then he was a dakota or two ahead.

Should I give up? This has become a mini grudge match.
I need ideas, but remember that I work out of my truck.

Rid of the Superchips tune and get a Nelson. Also get a set of longtubes and that should do it.

you have alot of weight on him, save the money on the LT and TUNe and get a 6.0 and see if he can keep up with that.

that's what happens when you get an extended cab with a 4.8. time for some gear, converter, and much better programming.

A converter would also help out.

IU would say long tube headers (TOG) and a nice converter.

Thanx for all the advice guys. The 6.0L will come when I manage to explode the 4.8L thats in there now. The cats are staying on because removing them really won't help my virtually stock daily driver. Ditching the flowmaster is an option, but you guys have any suggestions that will sound mellow/throaty at idle and wail at WOT?
What kind of MPG will I get if I ditch the stock rear gears?
Headers and a better torque converter sound like the logical next steps at the moment.
Hold on as I slide into my flame retardant suit.....then again if I gonna throw all this money at my truck whats stopping me from trading for a Titan?
