Cut rear Springs tahoe

Default Cut rear Springs tahoe

Can you cut stock z71 rear coil springs on a tahoe the reason I don't want to buy new ones is because I just these z71 Springs and now they made the rear sit to high all I want to is about 1 spring to make the rear sit about an inch lower

Im running cut z71 springs on my Nali xl, which is heavier. Took off two coils. sits @ 35" height from the street to the fender lip in the rear. I used 3/4" heater hose instead of spring isolators.

You can see how much I cut:

You can, but you totally screw the spring progression when doing so.

My Moog coils did not appear to be progressive. OEM may be. My Ride isn't terrible.

Needs the free travel mod though.

If you keep the spring cold while cutting, you won't mess up the spring rate as bad. Spring steel hates heat

Well yeah... don't use a plasma torch. I slowly cut em with a grinder and oil.

You'd be surprised how many people take torches to them. And I'd go slower than that, I'd go hacksaw
