Default Curious...

It's going to be a long time before I can dyno my motor and until I can get it put into my truck but I'm really anxious to know what I could possibly run in the 1/4 mile with this setup. It's a 84 GMC Full Size single cab swb w/ a fully built 383 , TH350 & Ford 9" w/ 411 gears. 12, 13, 14 sec?? Ya know.. given the perfect variables like good launch w/ slicks, good shift points etc. etc. What if the motor puts out 400whp? 500whp? 600whp? What could it run with mild weight reduction like aluminum racing buckets, ditch stock fuel tank for 7 gal fuel cell, etc. ??

fully built 383?....N/A, power-adder? High compression? cam? It'll be hard to tell you what it's capabilities are without the vital info. If it makes 400+ hp.....should be at the very least a 13 second ride, but I'll go out on a limb and say 12's failry easily.

I'd say 400 horse is probably pretty conservative for your combo. Probably 450 or better...Should run 12.70 ish with all things being perfect or damn near. Weight reduction and good traction should put you in the mid to lower 12's ( again, if everything is near perfect). Sounds like a really cool project. Good luck with it.

that's what i was wanting to hear. 12/13 second street truck. definately 12s spraying it hopefully. i'm still curious about the gearing. i only have 3 gears with the th350, 411 gear in 9" 3500-4000 stall? 5000 stall? i wish i could run it to see where i need to shift & what mph at redline in 3rd. the nova was never ran or dyno'ed so i'm pissing in the wind here.

Sounds like a good project truck combo you have there, also got any pics? Im not running a 383 or th350 but i did pick up a few 10ths from the 700R4 swap. Ive also never got a Good full run yet, I was running shot 8mm wires, driveshaft too short so letting out before the traps, no rear brakes so only 1000rpms of stall, 90-95%throttle and i got a best of 14.21, You should be easy 13's i know i will be once i get all the little things worked out. Also the only thing off my truck is the tailgate/rear bumper an you can see my weight in sig. Keep us updated!
